Greedy Rina Robin and the Lie By Kristina Clardy and Sophie Perle

  I am pretty. I am sweet. I am Rina Robin, you can call me Rina. This is my story.

  Once, I was strolling in the park, when suddenly, I saw a mansion being built. I got very jealous. The mansion was beautiful. Once I saw the ten storied- house, I got super jealous. Since then, I’ve been jealous about almost everything.

   I once saw my friend, Suzy Sloth, known as Suzy, carrying a very fancy purse. “I don’t like this purse”, I said. “I love it!” “Me too, it’s so pretty!” said Suzy. Then I started asking questions like “Where’d it come from? How much did it cost? What was inside of it?” and all that stuff.

The next day, I went to the makeup shop to pick up my cream when I saw the most beautiful eyeshadow ever. It was rainbow and very sparkly. So, I got my cream and asked the salesclerk, Mr. Dutch Deer, how much it costs. “Five hundred dollars,” was Mr. Dutch’s answer. “FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS!” I yelled. I changed my voice to a quieter tone. “Well then, how much money does it cost to try it on?” I asked. Mr. Dutch’s answer was “Four hundred, eighty-nine!” “FOUR HUNDRED DOLLARS! EIGHTY-NINE CENTS! What?” Then that night, I sparked an idea. I, um stole the eye- shadow? Well, I only had three hundred five dollars. Excuse, said. Let’s not talk about this anymore.

    See, I know I have enough, but I just need more! Hmm… I see the animals have very fabulous things. Maybe I can get them somehow. Then that night, I sparked a plan.

    The next day, I lied that I was very, poor. But nobody believed me. Not even Suzy! I mean come on! What kind of friend is she!?! So, I made a fake and dreadful house out of soggy cardboard, dead plants, leaves, and twigs. Then I made trashy dresses and I even put dirt in my lipstick. Ew, gross! But I have to. So, sadly, I will.

   Yay! My idea works! Everyone believes me, even Suzy! (I told her that my house that she’s been to was my parents’ house, and I explained to everybody that I have only one fancy dress.) Everyone gives me their fabulous stuff, even Cameron Crow, the bully in my school!

   But my real house is kinda small. But I can fit it all in. Just watch me. Ugh, um…phew! Got it all stuffed in. I guess there’s a little room for me. Yay?

   Wow. My house is SO full. I think it might… uh- oh. Everything overflowed! Everyone found out my little secret. Wah! At least Suzy is still my friend? Maybe. Everybody took back their stuff.

   And guess what? Cameron Crow IS nice, but NOT to ME. “Well, I guess you learned your lesson, Rina!” says my teacher, Mrs. Carter Cat. “Meow-ee!  It’s time for recess! Rina, you’ll be having a talk with me.”

   Ugh. Great. Meating with Mrs. Carter and Eli Elephant, my principal. And Ms. Julie Jerboa, NOT a snake. They said that now, I’m going to summer school, and I’m now NOT team captain of my dodgeball (PE) team. (Oh, and Ms. Julie is my vice principal.) I can’t be trusted, and blah, blah, blah, blah!

   Well, I guess I did learn my lesson. Don’t lie. And don’t be too jealous.
